Somewhere in a parallel universe, there is a Maddie Daily living out her life as a choir singer, who did not wind up in a tech theater class by accident her freshman year of high school and did not have her life completely changed. However, in this existing universe, our Maddie did wind up in a tech theater class and from there discovered she really loved technical theatre. Really, really loved it. She went all in, first with set design, scenic painting, then sound design.
In fact, ‘going all in’ might be the best way to describe Maddie. She completed a four-year Bachelors in Fine Arts program at University of North Georgia in two. She won competitions for her work on shows, and while working on her Bachelors was a crew member at the Alliance Theater in the Woodruff Center. She worked at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as show support in maintenance, performing maintenance on the hand-triggered technology that allowed for voice activation in characters – and you can thank her for her work on the Storm Troopers or Chewbacca the next time you run into them. While maintenancing Walt Disney World’s AV systems, she grew a fondness for the Yamaha DM2000VCM and its fancy conductive glue. Digging into this work lead her to the world of design consultation in themed entertainment with Forward Thinking Designs.
From themed entertainment designs she moved into AV consulting at Theatre Projects where she helped develop their BIM and Revit standards, going all in on her love for standardizations no matter what she’s working on. From Theatre Projects she transitioned to Kirkegaard as a Senior Audiovisual consultant which gave her the opportunity to manage projects, deliver reports and delve into program writing before joining Threshold with a rich, riveting background and a design focus on Accessible/Inclusive and sustainable systems.
If you’re already exhausted, don’t worry – somehow she’s had the spare time to be a competitive martial artist for 11 years, earning 3 black belts and traveling internationally for competitions. She’s visited 16 countries, done serious road trips all over the United States, and still finds time for Lego sets, live theater, and as a current resident, of course being outside.
