Angela Born
Angela is the Fairy Godmother of Threshold and herds metaphorical cats across the office and globe with elegance and ease. In addition to her ability to charm us all into completing our giant to-do lists, she also serves as the welcome committee for all who phone, email, or visit the office. Her familiarity with magic stems from her experience in the opera world of Chicago.
Commended for her fire and dramatic conviction on stage (Chicago Classical Review), Angela Born is an opera theatre singer and artist who is highly committed to bringing artistic integrity and authenticity to her performances. Ms. Born has made her mark in the city as a desired interpreter of new works and regularly partners with various organizations in presenting midwestern and international premieres. Recently, Ms. Born received critical acclaim for “pulling off the high-wire act of sustained, metaphorically naked vocal performance” (Chicago Reader) in the American premiere of Juliet Palmer’s Stitch, an a cappella opera written for 3 voices and 3 sewing machines, which vividly imagines the lives and challenges of textile factory workers. At home she herds literal cats, two adorable rescues named Pancake and Waffle, with less elegance and ease.
